IUC: TIF 101: HOW TAX INCENTIVE FINANCING WORKS

January 13, 2022
4:30-6:00 p.m.

Most of us have heard about tax incentive financing (TIF). But how does the process work? Who does it benefit? And what alternatives are there if you don’t seek out these types of incentives?

In this “Issues Up Close” session, we’ve invited a few local experts to talk about the process, including:

  • What role do school districts play in TIF decision-making
  • Examples of local projects that have benefitted from this type of incentive
  • Distribution of TIF incentives across the various communities of KC

This session will be set up as a panel discussion with insights from local experts including Michael Collins, National Director of Corporate Development for JE Dunn Construction, Kathleen Pointer, Senior Policy Strategist/City Hall Liaison for Kanas City Public Schools, and Terry Ward.
