INAUGURAL CENTURIONS HOMECOMING EVENT (ALL ACTIVES, ALUMNI, AND GUESTS)

Join us as we build a new Centurions tradition: once a year, we’ll gather in celebration of all Centurions- actives and alums, Spring and Fall. Think of this Thursday night lovefest as your official kickoff for a whole weekend of Centurions fun! We encourage you to carry the celebration throughout the weekend by organizing your own class reunion events—maybe a golf outing, service project, brewery tour, fancy dinner, or a family BBQ at the park.

Attire for this event is classy casual. We’ll have appetizers and drinks provided by featured local KC vendors, along with raffle prizes (proceeds donated to Actives’ projects/scholarships).

Tickets are available online for $50/person until August 28 (all Centurions and their plus ones are welcome), then $60 from August 29 until the event. We can’t wait to see you soon! This event takes place Thursday, September 5, 7-10 pm at The Mulberry Room in West Bottoms.

REMINDER: SIGN UP TO ACCESS SERVICE PROJECTS ON VOLUNTEERMARK

All volunteer opportunities are now open to both classes and are on a first-come, first-served basis. We have moved to one calendar on VolunteerMark that everyone will use to sign up for opportunities. This was the overwhelming feedback that volunteer opportunities are a great way to have both classes connect. This also means that opportunities are open “year-round” for everyone, which we will track by program year (Fall: July 1-June 30 and Spring: Feb 1-Jan 31).

Ready to serve? Check out VolunteerMark for a few opportunities that are still in need of volunteers. Check the calendar regularly as new projects are added weekly and look for newsletter announcements or GroupMe to sign-up for projects in which spots still need to be filled.

IUC: VIOLENT CRIME IN KANSAS CITY: COMMUNITY AND VICTIM PERSPECTIVES

In recent years, federal statistics revealed that Kansas City has the fifth-highest murder rate in the country. Too often, the perspectives of victims and community, grassroots organizers go unheard throughout the Kansas City metro when addressing crime and public safety. This Issues up Close builds on themes and discussions from the July Task Force, and invites Centurions to visit with community leaders, volunteers, and professionals working to heal communities and improve the lives of victims affected by violent crime. Centurions will have the opportunity to consider these perspectives and how Centurions can participate in ending violent crime in Kansas City. This event takes place on August 13 at 11:30 a.m. Register here >>
