PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

Staying active is one of the most important things a person can do to help curb obesity, lower your chances of heart disease and live healthy. Yet we know that in the workplace we are more susceptible to long hours of sitting with very little movement. How do you encourage physical activity in your workplace? Healthy KC’s Workplace Wellness Action Team has collected a number of resources that can help improve your workplace’s policies around physical activity.

Some of the following ideas and resources can help implement this pillar in an organization:


Designate a Physical Activity Champion


Designate a Physical Activity Champion who coordinates physical activity efforts for our organization

Allow time for physical activity during the work day


Offer/promote walking programs


Offer/promote walking programs, including walking/standing meetings.

Provide access to discounted or subsidized wearable devices


Provide access to discounted or subsidized wearable devices, such as a Garmin vĂ­vofit®, to employees.
