Civic and Community Initiatives Internship

The Civic and Community Initiatives division of The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce is seeking self-motivated interns to assist in its community relations projects during fall of 2018. Interns will work on and have exposure to a variety of Civic and Community Initiative programs that may include the following: genKC and Centurions (professional leadership development); health- related programs such as HealthyKC; and other KC Chamber-lead focus areas such as early childhood education, education, entrepreneurship and diversity & inclusion. The internship duties will vary from event planning and preparation to content generation for print and social media to community research and reporting. This internship includes both independent work and opportunities for collaborative projects and high visibility interactions with business and community leaders. Our interns are an integral part of the KC Chamber, and we value candidates who are driven to succeed and interested in community leadership.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including high levels of both written and spoken English language
  • Self-directed, possess effectual critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Organized, and able to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Reliable transportation
