KC Chamber Leadership Exchange

The Leadership Exchange is the Chamber’s annual best practices trip for community leaders to explore and discuss community opportunities and challenges using the lens that another metro area provides. For 13 years the KC Chamber has been escorting community leaders and decision-makers on this exploration of a peer or “reach” city or region and bringing back ideas, opportunities and new ways of considering the success that is already here in the KC region.

Destination: Boston
September 24-26


The KC Chamber will be escorting a prestigious group of area business leaders and regional elected officials on a best practices trip to Boston in late September. This will be the KC Chamber’s 15th annual Leadership Exchange study trip. More than 100 area leaders will make up the KC delegation that will look at Boston's successful innovation ecosystems including the life sciences and health care, engineering, design-build, and academia; K-12 and higher education reform measures; and collaboration between higher education and business.

Destination: Fort Worth/Dallas Region
September 25-27


The KC Chamber will be escorting a prestigious group of area business leaders and regional elected officials on a best practices trip to the Fort Worth and Dallas area in late September. This will be the KC Chamber’s 14th annual Leadership Exchange study trip. More than 100 area leaders will make up the KC delegation that will look at Fort Worth’s success in establishing an arts and culture brand, riverfront development and philanthropy and explore Dallas’s growth in the sports economy, entrepreneurism, and transportation including airports and transit.

2015 Leadership Exchange


Destination: Portland Oregon

 
The KC Chamber will be escorting a prestigious group of area business leaders and regional elected officials on a best practices trip to Portland Oregon in late September. This will be the KC Chamber’s 13th annual Leadership Exchange study trip. More than 100 area leaders will make up the KC delegation that will look at Portland’s success in attracting and retaining a strong Millennial workforce, redevelopment of the Portland Airport, and Portland’s best practices around transit-oriented development. The delegation will also tour several downtown neighborhoods, meet with leaders at the Oregon Health Sciences University, and dialogue with leaders from Oregon and Washington state about regionalism in a bistate community. Leadership Exchange History


The Chamber’s first Leadership Exchange was in 2003 when the KC Chamber escorted 55 regional leaders to Pittsburgh, PA for a look at downtown redevelopment, arts investment, philanthropy, and sports stadiums.
