Events Director

Job Title: Director, Events
Department: Marketing
Position Reports To: Vice President, Marketing
Responsible for managing events, meeting budgets and executive-level committee management
  • Plan, coordinate and execute all aspects of the organizations key events for up to 1,900 people
  • Oversee and manage all of the organization’s exclusive/executive level events and one-time special events throughout the year
  • Provide cross-departmental planning and logistic support for other Chamber programs and events
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Chamber members and major investors
  • Generate and manage event revenue through sponsorships and internal funding initiative (Gross revenue budgets of $620K and below)
  • Follow through with all event sponsorship benefits and follow up after all events to ensure expectations were exceeded
  • Negotiate contracts and arrangements for all Chamber events
  • Manage event budgets and supervise spending for all events to meet strict net revenue goals
  • Oversee and coordinate event and program committees composed of senior-level executives
  • Lead and execute the local selection process for an international award
  • Co-manage the Events + genKC Manager
5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing or similar. Evidence of successful event, sponsorship, marketing, public relations and business development/relationship development required. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are necessary, and the ability to competently and calmly handle multiple concurring tasks while being an effective communicator and a team player. Proficiency in Microsoft office is required. Occasional early mornings and late evenings are required to fulfill the responsibilities of the job.
The employee must be able to constantly move about an event site (10+ hours) and lift, pull, hold, push and place heavy objects (25+ lbs or less); constantly required to exchange accurate information confidently and decisively. The employee must also be able to perform basic office tasks – sitting at a desk, typing, talking on the phone, utilizing daily office equipment, etc.
