ATHENA Leadership Award

Presented by KPMG and Bank Midwest

The ATHENA Leadership Award Program supports, honors, and develops women leaders. The ATHENA award is inspired by the goddess of Greek mythology known for her strength, courage, wisdom, and enlightenment. The ATHENA Leadership Award is presented to a woman – or man – who is honored for professional excellence, community service, and for actively assisting women in their attainment of professional excellence and leadership skills. It is an international award that is presented by local chambers of commerce. In 30 years, nearly 6,000 leaders have received the award.

  • Have achieved the highest level of professional excellence.
  • Provide valuable service to improve quality of life for others in their community.
  • Actively assist women in achieving their full leadership potential.
  • ATHENA Award nominees may represent either the for-profit or not-for-profit sector and must work in the Greater Kansas City area.
  • Previous recipients are not eligible, however past nominees may be nominated again.
  • There is no minimum or maximum age qualification, but you may consider nominating someone for the young professional ATHENA Award that’s also available.
Completing the Form
  • Nominations must be submitted using this nomination form and format.
  • Deadline for submission is June 3, 2016.
The Process
After June 3, all nominees will be notified. The nominee will be asked accept then finish a portion of the nomination process.

A selection committee, made up of a diverse group of community leaders, will review all nominations and select one ATHENA Award recipient and one Young Professional ATHENA leadership Award recipient. The recipients will be honored at the annual Kansas City ATHENA Awards Reception.
