Building More KC Leaders: KC Chamber's Centurions Leadership Program Expands

Applications are now open for a new spring class of the KC Chamber’s leadership development program, Centurions.

“We’re expanding the Centurions program because we know it works,” says Joe Reardon, President & CEO of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. “Over the 41 years of the program, Centurions graduates have gone on to become federal judges, CEOs, nonprofit executives, and more. Centurions alumni are usually deeply connected to our community, and understand the importance of community service and civic leadership. We need more of them.”

Centurions are selected following a vigorous nomination and interview process. The new Centurions cohort will have the same structure and service commitment as the current cohort, and the same opportunities to learn about community issues, to explore the many areas of the region, and to become more civically involved.

Applications for the new spring class are available at centurions.org. Applications are due February 1 with interviews and acceptances to follow. Information sessions for prospective candidates are scheduled for December 19, January 3, January 16, and January 22. Candidates will be notified of their acceptance no later than February 28.

“Our decision to begin a second Centurions cohort comes at a time when leadership growth and development is in high demand while opportunities are limited,” Reardon says. “As Kansas City has grown, the demand and the need for this program has grown. The KC Chamber is poised to produce a greater number of emerging civic and business leaders to learn, serve, and lead in the community.”
