We won’t promise you the moon, but we will give you the world. The Chamber is a support system for businesses to gain insight and knowledge about how others are doing business in the ever-changing global marketplace.

WORLD TRADE CENTER
The Chamber’s World Trade Center has been a member since 1990 of the World Trade Center Association (WTCA) a not-for-profit, non-political association that represents 281 centers in 80 countries around the globe. The World Trade Center Association, the world’s largest private international trade association, was created to promote global trade and, through those relationships, foster peace and understanding.

The World Trade Center is committed to:
  • Focusing on trade education of the business community
  • Building global business leadership
  • Promoting a unified voice of the business community to our International Investors, to our membership, and to the small and medium sized business located in the greater Kansas City region.

GLOBE (Global Leadership Opportunities for Business Executives)
Presented by the WTC in partnership with the Kansas Women’s Business Center and Enterprise Center of Johnson County

In 1997, the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce recognized the need to develop an international executive business leadership program under its World Trade Center brand. Now recruiting for its 12th year, this signature program provides a forum where business, government and community champions deliver key strategies illustrating international best business practices.

FACTS:
  • 96% of the world's consumers live outside the borders of the United States
  • Each day the United States conducts nearly $11 billion in trade and 97% of the U.S. exports are from small to medium-sized businesses
  • Key exports from the states of Missouri and Kansas include transportation equipment, chemical and machinery products, computers and electronics and processed foods
  • GLOBE began in 1998 under the leadership direction of Harry Cleberg, former CEO of Farmland Foods
  • Over 200 graduates have participated in the GLOBE program
  • President Obama has declared that May 17-23, 2009 is World Trade Week! Read more about it >>
  • GLOBE 2010 dates: GLOBE will meet on the second Tuesday of each month beginning March 9 until October. Download the GLOBE informational flyer, and the application for GLOBE XVIII (deadline is February 26, 2010!)
  • All GLOBE participants who apply and are accepted for the 2010 GLOBE program have a chance to be entered into a drawing for a Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007. The winner will be chosen during the first GLOBE class that meets on Tuesday, March 9th. Sign up to be a part of the GLOBE program today!
